Start your National Hot Sauce Day off on the right spice. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we’re setting the bar even higher by incorporating the sweet heat of our Black Cherry Hot Sauce into every bite of brekkie. While the rest of your meals will always live in the shadow of this towering stack of Black Cherry Belgian Waffles, it’s a cross we’re willing to bear.

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups milk or dairy-free milk
  • 1/2 cup oil vegetable or canola oil
  • Tabañero Black Cherry Hot Sauce
  • Maple syrup
  • Fruit and other toppings

  1. In a large bowl, combine all of your dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Separate the egg yolks and whites into two different mixing bowls, and use a hand mixer to beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
(Pro Tip: Be careful not to get any yellow egg yolk in with the egg whites or they wont beat to stiff peaks properly.)
  3. In another mixing bowl, combine your wet ingredients – milk, oil of your choice, egg yolks, and a few dashes of Tabañero Black Cherry Hot Sauce.
  4. Mix your wet ingredients thoroughly, then slowly stir in the dry ingredients.
  5. Gently fold in your beaten egg whites, careful not to over-mix.
  6. Once combined, you’re ready to cook your waffles! Spoon the batter into a preheated and greased waffle iron and cook according to the waffle maker's instructions.
  7. For some extra heat, mix a few extra dashes of our Black Cherry Hot Sauce with your syrup.
  8. Serve with your favorite toppings. Ours include blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and, of course, cherries!
