Sweet and Spicy BBQ Meatballs with Tabañero
Yield: 15 servings
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound of lean ground beef
- 1 cup of dry bread crumbs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon of kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ cup of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of ketchup
- ¼ cup of water
- ¼ cup of granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons of Tabañero Sweet and Spicy Hot Sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
Add the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, eggs, salt, and paper into a large mixing bowl. Use your hands to combine the ingredients. Scoop and roll the meat mixture into 15 1-inch balls and place on a cutting board or plate.
Combine the ketchup, sugar, water, Tabañero Sweet and Spicy Hot Sauce, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Heat a large skillet over low heat and add the sauce mixture.
Heat a different large skillet over medium heat and add the oil. Add six to eight meatballs to the skillet and rotate until cooked evenly for about five minutes. Once browned on all sides, transfer the meatballs to the skillet with the BBQ sauce. Cover with a lid while cooking the remaining meatballs.
Once all meatballs are in the sauce, let them simmer covered for ten minutes. Add a few tablespoons of water if needed. Serve warm with toothpicks.
